First of all,

To those who follow my blog, I appologise for such a long pause in my posts, I was moving countries :)

But here I am, back in Australia!

Anyway, as usual, we pretty much had to start from nothing, but setting up home is always fun for me - not so much for my husband ;)

So, I'll try to keep you updated on what's going on in my life as well as other interesting/beautiful things that catch my attention

Today's thoughts

I read an article today about what success really means; apparently, different things to different people, but for the most part, it seems to steer towards personal fulfillment rather than flashy cars and money.

I totally agree with that, and I also think that some people are lucky enough to have figured that out early on in life, and even luckier to discover what it is that makes them tick and follow it.

As for me, I have finally figured out what I want to do when I grow up, and that's designing;

i.e. I want to be a Designer of Textiles and other homewares related products.

I guess I'm going to have to start from the bottom - I guess I'm not too old :) to go to University (actually found a great undergraduate course in VIC), but I am excited about that, and I have a feeling that I am going to enjoy myself :)

Eating out

My husband and I like to eat out, so I try to choose a different place every time we go.

I have my favorites, but I don't base that decision on food alone... don't get me wrong,

the food needs to taste good, but to me, one of the most important factors deciding,

where I'm going to eat tonight, is the decor of the place.

Eating food in a trendy, interesting, well designed restaurant,makes the food taste better

somehow, than in a boring, run down, ugly, and tasteless place.

Here is a guy, who is not afraid to be different, and low and behold! gets recognised for doing so :)

I love what he does with interiors, and most of his wild ideas

I especially love the chandelier shower-heads (pictured below) installed in the bathrooms of the newly opened The Mondrian South Beach Hotel

and I love this spiral staircase installed in the same hotel, some say that it is not a hotel, but Marcel Wanders Museum, and what a place to stay - pick me! - just gorgeous... (sigh..)

Rant ! ! !

I have a problem with hotel rooms, lobbies, bathrooms, so on and so forth...

The problem is, that they are all the same!

O.K. some of them have more expensive and extravagant fit-out than others, but overall they are all the same!

BORING ! ! !

I am yet to be surprised (repeat: genuinely s u r p r i s e d) by the interior of a hotel... This should be a place where (for the most part) people come to escape everyday reality, it should transport us to another place, a magical wonderland where we can look at life with a different view and from another perspective.

A place where we can clear our minds and think in/outside of the box (whichever you prefer)...

Well, the truth is that I don't travel for hours, drag my luggage to some magical place, only to stay in a hotel which feels like home (ugh..) I want to be teleported into another world!!! I want to experience something!!! I want to feel inspired !!!

O.K. enough of ranting...

I really love these lamps designed by the Spanish designer Martí Guixé for the Italian brand Danese.

I can just see them hanging on either side of the bed just above the night tables, beautiful...
